It’s June, and that means that school is almost out, Cayuga Lake is getting warmer and produce is starting to grow like crazy! Here in Ithaca, there are so many great ways to take advantage of the (finally) beautiful weather!
One way we’re welcoming summer is with Full Plate Farm Collective’s CSA, which began June 10th! You can still sign up for the 23-week long program of fresh veggies delivered to one of many convenient pickup locations, including GreenTree Garden Supply. Find more information and sign up with Full Plate here.

Many of the farms who send their veggies out with Full Plate Farm Collective’s CSA use GreenTree’s soils! Remembrance Farm is one of our awesome clients, and they are hard at work growing produce for CSA customers. Check out this great picture of the kids at Remembrance monitoring progress of lettuce on the farm!

A CSA can be a bit intimidating, but trust us - it’s worth it! A direct, local connection between farm and consumer leads to great economics, fresh food and creative cooking. Need more convincing? This is what Full Plate has to say about its CSA:
“CSAs support sustainable and responsible land management, a shrinking carbon footprint, and communities that can nourish themselves. A community is formed by the members of a CSA and the farmers who produce their food. A CSA gives the farmers a sure market and a gauge to produce by, minimizing losses and ensuring the success of the farm.”
And what do you do with all the delicious veggies you end up with? There are tons of ideas all over the internet, but here are a few of our favorite tips and recipes:
