We just love our interesting customers' interesting projects.
Here's a fodder and aquaponics system that one customer was kind enough to share with us:
He's growing fodder for his chickens in a hydroponic system. When the plants get to this point, the roots mat together and he can throw the whole thing to his chickens, who dig right in. He said that eating this made his chicken's egg yolks a beautiful color all winter long.
A 200-gallon fish tank (long tank on left) drains to a 44-gallon bio filter (barrel lower left corner), which is pumped onto the growbed under lights. Gravity takes the water back to the fish tank. There's cucumbers, basil, and lettuce in there. (Next time he's here, we'll sell him GreenTree Coco, not Botanicare!)
