We believe that soil matters and is at the heart of life. We also believe that Biochar will be part of the solution to climate change. Greentree Soils and Biochar are good for plants AND good for the earth.

Our Process

It takes physics, chemistry, and biology to make a great soil. Our proprietary and patented processes take care of it all, harnessing biology to optimize plant growth.

GreenTree Coco

We use coconut coir instead of peat because of its superior water-holding and wettability. Coir is a sustainable resource while peat is extracted from peatlands, destroying an important carbon store and natural habitat.

The coco we use is OMRI and RHP registered. It has been hydrated with reverse osmosis water and buffered to remove salts, ensuring a premium quality product, whether used alone or as part of a soil blend.

GreenTree soils are:

• Made by hand in Ithaca, N.Y.

• Biologically activated - our aerated composting system encourages beneficial bacteria to flourish.

GreenTree Coco

GreenTree Coco Naked Block

A premium washed, low-EC compressed coconut coir. We use OMRI and RHP registered coco. Each coco block expands to approximately 2.5 cu ft hydrated.

GreenTree Straight

A premium hydrated coconut coir buffered using GreenTree’s proprietary technology. Our in-house hydration and buffering ensure the very best final quality. This coco can be used straight from the bag.

GreenTree Coco Pro^TM

A Coco-rich soil with peat, perlite, and a starter nutrient charge. This is the soil for people who use high-porosity peat products. Less peat is better for the environment, and Coco ups the waterholding without waterlogging.

GreenTree Premium Soil Blends

GreenTree Growers’ Blend^TM - Organic

A blend of coir, sphagnum peat and specially selected organic media, GreenTree Growers’ Blend is full of nutrients and biology. A premium soil with high air capacity and drainage for indoor and outdoor gardening.

GreenTree Ithaca Blend^TM - Organic

Full of nutrients and biology, GreenTree Ithaca Blend is a premium soil with excellent water retention and drainage for indoor and outdoor gardening. We combine GreenTree Coco^TM, sphagnum peat, premium worm castings and specially selected organic nutrients with the addition of our own patented Biocore^TM biochar.

GreenTree Ultimate Blend^TM - Organic

An organic supersoil for container gardening made using our proprietary aging process. This soil contains all the nutrients typically necessary for a full crop cycle.

GreenTree Ag Blend^TM - Organic

A peat-light blend with coco, earthworm castings, and organic nutrients like bone char, sulfate of potash, vegetable protein such as peanut meal, and animal protein such as feather meal.

GreenTree Hydro

Coco and perlite and as little nutrients as we could manage, for growers who want to keep a tight rein on their fertilizer regimen.

GreenTree No-Float

Same as the GreenTree Hydro with rice hulls to add air capacity instead of perlite. It's called No-Float because the rice hulls won't float to the top of your soil with watering like perlite will.
